Up to their games already in Broward for ESE parents via emails

It's very upsetting to know some Broward School Principals are ALREADY UP TO THEIR GAMES THEY LOVE TO PLAY WITH ESE PARENTS!!!

The bantering of emails already ~ The TIME & EFFORT Principals & ESE Staff from 2 different Broward Public schools are already putting in back and forth to these parents is not a way to create the good customer service talked about so often in our district.

Must be a 'green light' given to Principals from District Administrators or a new training on how to respond to ESE parent emails.

*This information is coming from 2 different parents that have children with Down syndrome.

A mom contacted me after the first week school started and was upset that she was told there was only ONE SCHOOL that her young 3 year old daughter could attend and it was far from her house and that she needed to take a school bus to get there. Her little itty bitty did not "fit in" to the Medically fragile classroom or the next class they put her in was filled with all NON-VERBAL students. Both parents are NOT HAPPY with the classroom placement that the district is saying she has no other choices to go to. After speaking to this mom, found out they requested a school closer to there home, nope the Initial Placement IEP 'team' said that there was only ONE PLACE for her to attend. .....hmmmmmm ....what is going on that parents are not FULLY INFORMED of all school placement options that ARE available to send our little itty bitty 3 year olds to? What about the school that is near their home in their neighborhood that has a 3-5 year old classroom? Are there no more 3-5 year old classrooms at the "regular" neighborhood schools? What is going on that our little ones with Down syndrome are not provided the opportunity to attend an Elementary school near the parents home? The "provider" centers and schools that "provide" classrooms for 3-5 year old with disabilities are not thee only classrooms available for our young children/students with Down syndrome. Stop this nonsense and RESPECT these parents for what they were asking about in the first place! Now their little one is not attending school at this time, because the parents do not believe their little girl needs to be put in a classroom like the ones the district 'said she has to go to!!" I will continue to help families put in situations like this for their precious little ones. Broward County Public Schools.....DO THE RIGHT THING by these children and stop SEGREGATING and Discriminating against them just because they have Down syndrome!
